Our Story
9 years, forever to go
We met in high school, Shayla's sophomore year, Matthew's junior year.
​
Rachael (bride's sister) was dating someone Matthew played soccer with and so we all met up at a frequented spot in our hometown (Marquette, MI) called "Blackrocks." Of course, Shayla had to make the first move and once she set's her mind to something she doesn't really give up. Within the next month we were together.
​
We went to a multitude of school dances together, and when Matthew graduated he went to college at MSU. A year later, Shayla graduated high school and attended Matthew's college's rival school, U of M. Lots of car rides / bus trips were made back and forth over the 6 years we were in college but it was fun getting to know two different friend groups and on game days (MSU vs Michigan) bringing them all together.
After Shayla's graduation, we moved in together, finally, to our first & current home in Madison, WI with our dog, Arrow.
For those who don't know our proposal story... Shayla mtb's, like actually does races. Her birthday weekend, she impromptu did the Marquette Trails Festival XC race & took first. After she finished racing, Matthew turned to Shayla's dad & he said "yeah, I think I am going to propose to her right now, do you think it will work?" (classic Matthew) & so on June 23rd, when Shayla was podiumed, Matthew asked her to marry him. Yup, she was definitely surprised.​

We have 2 RSVP cards in our invitations, please send both in the provided envelope so we can keep count for BOTH our welcome party & our wedding day!
What to wear?
PLEASE wear lighter springtime colors, we are hoping for florals, pastels, lighter colors. For women that means midi - floor length floral dresses, pale pinks, pale yellows, light greens, bright pinks, bright blues (basically anything you want that is not a fall/winter color). For men that means gray, light blue, beige suits/tuxs (if you want to wear dark, at least let it be navy).
Can I bring my kids?
sorry, leave the kids at home!
Our ceremony and reception will be adults only, think of it as a date & leave the kids at home! Your invitation is addressed to those welcome to attend, unless told otherwise by bride or groom.
Is it hot?
Who doesn't want a warm vacay??
The average temp in HHI during April is a high of 76 & low of 54.
Our welcome party, ceremony & cocktail hour will be outside!
Where to Park?
Parking @ Wright Family Park is limited.
For that reason we will be having shuttles from the Westin to the ceremony, to the reception from the ceremony, and from the reception to the Westin at the end of the night.

Are there hotel Blocks?
Sorry - No.
We don't want to limit you to one hotel/resort! ​

Do you have a registry?
no better gift than you @ our wedding... but
As many of you know, we are moving right after our wedding (actually 2 days after we get back from our honeymoon)! To make it even more fun - it is a cross country move!

We are asking for help with this move - we already have too much to move, so cash funds will be the most helpful at this point in our life!
